Sculptures by the Sea, Cottesloe Beach 2019

March is the month to find wacky and wonderful artwork scattered around Cottesloe Beach. I always make an effort to see this exhibition because I love observing the general public looking at, embracing and trying to understand the sculptures presented each year. The sculptors work to engage with the environment and landscape while sometimes brushing on important issues, whereas other pieces are just odd and interesting. Year in year out, there are so many sculptures (70 of them!) that they cascade up the grassed area and onto the area around Marine Parade.

2019 is the 15th annual Sculpture by the Sea and features work from Australians and artists from around the world. Hundreds of thousands of people always attend these amazing outdoor exhibitions. It’s a great way to get people involved in artwork! I would never see that many people go through the Art Gallery! Here’s a few of my snaps from an evening visit, I hope you can make it there to see the works for yourself.
